The crypt of Holy Spirit,a hypogeal church, is placed in the southwest area of the town, close to the cemetery. On the inside, it is divided into three naves by columns and round arches, closed by three apses as well. Pillars, each one with a different capital with human and plant features, create a fake cross- vaulted ceiling giving to the crypt the impression to be a sort of "Basilica" (Cathedral). Unfortunately, due to the loss of ruined frescoes, it’s difficult to identify its origin (probably dated to the twelfth or thirteenth century) and its function. Still today, a week after Easter,on Thursday for 7 weeks, a group of believers recite prayers and rosaries as a show of their devotion, walking along the road that goes from the cemetery to the crypt.
